Can someone please add "Party Time" to the list of albums? I can't figure out how. Thanks in advance - Saint.

Forums

Hey Emil, I tried to email you about this, but the email address in the email link on the "about" page bounced saying it was a bad address. Anyway, I know the rhombus forums have been down for awhile. We sorely need some forums where the community can carry on discussions related to phish and their music. I have some web space and bandwidth, and would be willing use some of it to host forums for this site. I could also admin and moderate if you do not have time. Let me know if you are interested. Sorry to take up space here, but this is the only way I know to get a hold of you, since the email link goes to a bad address.

ETA: Check out the Oceans of Osyrus forums. Rhombus members started this forum shortly after its demise.

Archiving Discussion Pages

The idea is to copy all discussion to your clipboard (or a text file locally), and make a link to a new "article" as per what I have done above. Then save the cleared out discussion page, and follow the link to the new one, where you can dump the old discussion code. --Emil 10:50, 2 February 2006 (EST)

Few Questions-

First I want to say thank you to Emil, as always, because his incredible skills have time and time again fixed my errors on the site. Additionally, I cant count on both hands and both feet how many of the tabs on this site begin with "Tabbed by Emil". Also, thanks to everyone else who contributes this this growing mass of information, your tabs are awesome. Questions, questions yes, thats the point. First, is it possible to put a hit counter on the site, so we can see how many times this site is accessed? I think that would be really cool to see. Secondly, I know the Antelope tab is up there, but has anyone heard or seen anything of that person earlier who offered to post his version of it? I tried searching around other sites, but I havent seen anything different from what we have. If not, would anyone be interested in tryin to decipher what he does after the switch to D C D C G>F, as well as any guides for the jam (Scales, structure, style, anything!)? And, of course, the ending riff would an awesome addition. Thats mostly it, keep it up! Kyle

Well I have the Power Tab version he E-Mailed me of Antelope. Its the entire version from Lawn Boy note for note. I also have the power tab he made of Reba from lawn boy which is 100% accurate like the Antelope. The Reba is done transcribed completely up until the jam. Bert

Trey's Sound

Hey folks, its Yak again. This time I have a pretty broad range question with the hopes that someone might be able to help me. I am wondering how Trey gets his guitar to sound the way it does. I understand that he had different sounds for different songs, but im talking classic Trey- Stash, Tweezer (reprise), Antelope (intro), Reba. One in particular is the most important to me, and that is Landlady, but I would like to know about the others mentioned as well.

I have a Ibanez Hollow Body AF series...more or less an old Gibson impersonation...good sound but its plywood...so that may affect the sound, but most people only notice when its unplugged. Ive only been playing for 3-4 years, so im working with a s**tty Crate kicker amp and a Zoom Multi-effect pedal. I know my tools arent top-o-the-line, but I would like to begin progressing on a path towards more Jazz, and Trey's sound is something I would like to understand in order to use it on some of my own songs. Mind you, I am not asking about playing style (at least not yet :P )just the sound his guitar makes.

Thanks everyone

Yak

Trey's tone

[h ttp://therhombus.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3105 Here] is a link to a thread dedicated to this. [h ttp://therhombus.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=55351 This] might also help. Feel free to start your own thread over there, you will likely get a much larger and more helpful response, seeing as how it's a forum dedicated to discussion of that kind of stuff. --Emil 17:36, 10 July 2006 (EDT)

Treys Tone Continued

Emil- Thanks for the info dude. All of this info is a bit overwhelming...like I said, I only started a little while ago. Maybe you can help me- from what I gather, most of his tone comes from his TS-9 Tubescreamer Pedal and compression from his Ross comp. Is that right? However, that still leaves some issues- like what is a Mesa Mark IIC+? I couldnt find anything online for it (which was odd) Furthermore, with his Wah rigging...is it just a standard wah pedal? does he keep it half engaged or something? or just regular "wah"ing? Sorry to keep asking but it wont let me post anything yet...

Thanks again for any information

Yak

Wont' let you post?

You mean theRhombus.com? You need to register for an account, and validate it with the link you get via email. Don't worry about using a fake address to prevent spam, I run the forum and guarantee that the email address is not going to be sold or used for any correspondence other than board alerts you set up. But if you registered and are unable to post, that is most likely the reason why. This stuff should really be posted over there, I guarantee you will get a more useful response. This site isn't really a forum for discussion so much as it is a repository for tablature.

Yeah im still waiting on the email from you guys to validate...i guess ill try again. Sorry about the posts, I kinda thought it was a forum as well as a repository! Well ill give it another whirl on the Rhombus- look out for a Yak!

Yak, try using the 'resend validation email' link on the login page, if you still haven't received it. --Emil 13:37, 14 July 2006 (EDT)

Run Like An Antelope Tab

Hey Phish-Heads, hope things are well. I have a Power-Tab transcription for Run Like an Antelope thats really good and I want to share it with everyone here. But here are the problems- Its Power-Tab, and I dont think we have any sort of download section here. Also, the transcription is not mine and I am in no way associated with it. I also dont remember where I got it (Although, I think user here sent it to me via email. Emil, I look to you for some guidance here, what do you think?

Powertabs

Yak, email it to me (first name at redmedia dot com), and I will post it. --Emil 13:04, 1 April 2007 (EDT)

Thanks in advance!

Protocol for adding a tab

I've been using this site for a while (a few years) but have never actually registered or contributed anything. However, I just got the Phish Vegas DVD and have noticed that the Walfredo tab is incomplete. What's the protocol for adding a tab that I intend to make? --Wakeboarderal05 16:16, 7 September 2008 (CDT)

Editing transcriptions

Forum request

Every page on the site has an associated "discussion" page where members can discuss anything related to the article it belongs to. The Wiki itself doesn't really lend itself to general discussion in this case. I had a small forum running at one point, but as most of us know, a quality forum requires a significant amount of moderation that I'm not prepared to involve myself in.

The good news it that there is no shortage of forums around the web that serve this exact purpose, so I'd encourage you to check those out for talk about the Phish reunion tour. Sorry, folks! Just guitar tabs here ;)

Oceans of Osyrus Forum (formerly The Rhombus)

For anyone looking, a lot of members from the old Rhombus forum now post on the Oceans of Osyrus forums (search on Google). We're always looking for old members who haven't found the new site or new members who want to join in on the discussions. Come take a look.

Thanks Email for the continued hard work with the tab site, if it wasn't for the old Tab site I wouldn't have found the Rhombus in the first place. Hopefully with the Phish returning in March there will be some new tabs to add.

Updates

Hey everyone,

First, there have been a number of issues lately with spam bots coming in and injecting random strings in some of the articles. I'm not sure what the motivation is, but it's ramping up to the point where they are hitting a dozen articles a day. I've implemented some CAPTCHA that will require anyone who registers to perform some basic math (what is 88-2?) upon registration. If this is not enough to stop them, I may try adding it to every article edit request. If that doesn't work, I'll have to figure out something else, possibly including a manual review of new registrations. I really hope that isn't necessary!

Second, I've been tinkering around with PHP and decided to try my hand at writing my own forum software. It's very basic, but the benefit of writing it myself is that you don't have to register a separate account to use it. It's kind of in beta, but if you want to go check it out, head over to http://emilstabs.org/f

Thanks,

Emil
