Emil's Tablature:About
From Emil's Tablature
Hey everyone, Emil here. This Phish Tablature was first created in 1995 by me as a way to keep his guitar transcriptions to Phish songs online and accessible. I don't remember exactly how it became linked to, but pretty quickly, I was getting mail with updates, corrections, and even new tabs for my archive. Frustrated with my inability to keep up with the barrage of email containing corrections and updates I was receiving, I turned the site into a forum in hopes of making the site more self-sustaining without my help. This helped somewhat, but still left members unable to edit the tablature files directly themselves.
I have launched this Wiki as an attempt to leave the information completely in the hands of the public. What is a Wiki, you ask? Well, a wiki is a site where anybody -- not just webmasters or members -- can edit any page. Wikis are best used for collaborative documents, such as this one. Consequently, most aspects of this site are editable by users, especially the tablature files themselves, with version tracking and rollback ability built-in to prevent vandalism. So if you come to a page in the site that has been improperly edited, anyone can revert it back to the proper version with a few clicks of the mouse. This is now literally a site by the people, and I hope that the community will help me to keep this site fresh, current, and free of errors.
If you plan on contributing anything, you must log in so you can receive ongoing credit for your contributions. Editing any page is as simple as clicking on the 'edit' link near the top. Remember that you are editing a public document, so be wise, and use the preview button before you commit changes. Also, use the 'summary' field just above the submit button to outline what you changed, and why you changed it.
Please e-mail me if you have any problems with the site, but only after you have looked at the help files. For more robust help, check out the documentation for this Wiki software at the Media Wiki Website.
